Punta del Este

At the beginning, it was an indigenous place. Later, it became a fishermen’s town. Its first name was Villa Ituzaingó but in 1907 it got its current name. Punta del Este is a peninsula which separates the Río de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean. It has a variety of beautiful beaches and I’ll be posting photos I took in different occasions. These photos were taken in 1994, if I’m not wrong. In the first one, we can see the Gorriti island. The second one was taken at La Mansa beach, in front of the island. The third one is a view of the port and finally, a detail of Carlos Páez Vilaró’s artworks at Casapueblo.

Al principio, era un paraje indígena. Luego se convirtió en un pueblo de pescadores. Su primer nombre fue Villa Ituzaingó pero en 1907 adquirió el nombre actual. Punta del Este es una península que separa el Río de la Plata del océano Atántico. Tiene una variedad de playas hermosas y estaré subiendo fotos que tomé en diversas ocasiones en este blog. Estas fotos las tomé en 1994 si no me equivoco. En la primera vemos a la isla Gorriti. La segunda fue tomada en Playa Mansa, frente a la isla. La tercera es una vista del puerto y finalmente, un detalle de obras de Carlos Páez Vilaró, en Casapueblo.
